Abstract : Buildings designs intended to resist external blast loads in the low pressure range are typically steel frame structures with strengthened steel panel or cast-in-place concrete wall systems. During the design of the MSAAP Load, Assembly and Pack (LAP) production line, strengthened precast panels were developed as the primary structural element for wall systems. The use of this concept was found to offer significant advantages in cost, aesthetics, and quality control during construction. The cost comparison, design analysis methods, and details of construction are discussed. (Author)
