Abstract : There is a lack of current information on the effect of temperature and moisture on lumber duration of load characteristics. A potential effect does exist, however, as creep and creep-rupture performance of small clear wood specimens is greatly affected by large variations in the environment. Suggestions are made for future research with particular emphasis toward establishing a cumulative damage or load history model that incorporates effects of temperature and moisture content interactions with load history.
