Abstract : In view of the existing evidence as to the value of audiovisual occupational presentations, and the observed inadequacy of the extant vocational counselling methods, it was decided to evaluate the communicative efficacy of videotaped trade and lifestyle information as a part of the counselling process at Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre (CFRC) Toronto. This study examines the introduction of videotapes describing the following sea trades; Weaponman Surface, Radar Plotter, Marine Engineering Mechanic, Boatswain and Signalman Sea, as well as the Lifestyle at sea.
