Abstract : The proposed research will examine the use of an integrated controller for the primary flight control of a helicopter. The primary controls of pitch, roll, and yaw will be integrated into a single, side-stick controller. Two types of integrated controllers will be studied: 1) an isotonic (displacement) controller; and 2) an isometric (force) controller. The two integrated control configurations will be compared to the conventional arrangement via performance on a 3-axis compensatory tracking task. RMS error will provide the dependent measure.
