Abstract : Icing on high-speed rotors was studied under natural conditions on the summit of Mt. Washington. Differences in the growth conditions from those of laboratory tests, such as rapidly variable water supplies and abundant freezing nuclei, seem to have contributed to raising the temperature of the wet growth regime and producing finer crystals than in laboratory experiments.
