Abstract : Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) has been shown to be effective therapy in models of cerebral infarction and trauma. It may provide a protective effect against mechanical disruption, as well as improve CBF and control intracranial pressure (ICP). We, therefore, decided to test this therapeutic agent in our gunshot wound model. In the present study, we have examined the effects of DMSO initiated 1 hour following trauma.
