Abstract : A review is provided of the state of the art of methods currently employed for predicting store separation at transonic speeds. Both experimentally- and theoretically-based methods are surveyed. A discussion of the various underlying aspects of the store separation problem, in particular, those most crucial at transonic speeds is provided. Future developments required for these methods to become usable in a design mode are identified, and a possible next plateau of theoretical modeling development is suggested. (Author)
