Abstract : The authors studied an analytical method to estimate chlorophyll and particle concentration in turbid water using MSS data collected after a heavy rain. The authors introduced the Multi Scattering Model into the analytical method. It was found that the analytical method employing the Multi Scattering Model was more effective than the method using statistical analysis which uses the relation between sea truth data and remote sensing data for estimating chlorophyll pigment concentrations. The method employing the Multi Scattering Model requires a number of sea truth data, but this number is less than the number required for the method employing the statistical analysis. (Author)
