Abstract : The Systematic Reconnaissance Flight (SRF) is a sample survey technique utilising visual observation and small-format aerial photography taken from low-flying aircraft. The collection and assignment of data to a sampling grid allows for its compilation and integration with ancillary data, both point- and grid-referenced. New data variables, which can be derived from SRF and ancillary data, are compiled in a highly structured database that provides a cost effective survey technique for developing countries.
