Abstract : Fast electric and magnetic field changes produced by positive ground strokes in Japan were recorded with the output of a slow antenna. High rate of positive ground flashes was recorded not only in winter but also in spring, and the fraction of positive ground flashes in a storm was known to correlate with the radar echo top instead of the vertical wind shear. The characteristics of the wave shape of the fast field changes of a positive ground flash and the difference from that of a negative ground stroke is stated, and the possible causes are discussed.
