Abstract : In this paper, we describe an application of the pvalued input, qvalued output threshold elements (2 equal to or less than p, 3 equal to or less than p), namely (p,q)logical elements, to the synthesis of the pvalued logical networks. The idea of the (p,q)logic stems from the considerations that on the threshold logic the extension of the input value to the manyvalued one is quite easy, while a similar extension concerning outputs is very difficult. It is shown that under some restricted situation, the optimum value q* of q can be determined to construct the minimum cost pvalued network using the (p,q) threshold elements. (Author)
