Abstract : The fact that a fuzzy switching function may take on infinitely many values is a good reason to examine the relationship between fuzzy switching functions and multi-valued (or multiple-valued or many-valued) switching functions. There are many aspects of the two types of functions that can be compared. After presenting a brief introduction to both multi-valued switching functions and fuzzy switching functions, we will compare some of the features of the two types of functions. We will then propose an algorithm which minimizes fuzzy functions, using techniques previously applied only to multi-valued switching functions. (Author)
