Abstract : A typical source selection involves considerable administration which contributes to the consumption of program and staff office resources. Normally these resources are expended at the sacrifice of regular program office project activities since a permanent, dedicated source selection team is not cost effective. The loss to a program can be measured in terms of schedule delays, contractual gaps, and loss management control over existing programs. Therefore, the efficient and speedy conduct of a source selection is essential to the Acquisition Process. This efficiency cannot be achieved by shortcutting the required processes of source selection evaluation, analysis, and ranking. However, the automating the administrative aspects of a source selection can result in a 30-50% reduction in time and resources required to evaluate the proposal. This paper will focus how this administration can and has been reduced on an existing Air Force Program through the use of microcomputers. (Author)
