Abstract : An overview of an analytical approach to the modeling and evaluation of information processing and decisionmaking organizations is presented. The mathematical framework used in modeling the individual decisionmakers as well as the organization is that of n-dimensional information theory. The data flow formalism is used to model in a precise manner the various types of interactions between decisionmakers as well as interactions between humans and the command, control, and communication system that supports the organization. Comparison and evaluation of alternative organizational forms is accomplished by considering organizational performance, individual workload, and the sets of satisfying decision strategies. (Author)
