Abstract : Ultra High Frequency tactical force data links can provide accurate relative navigation utilizing signal propagation delays, transformed into corrections to dead-reckoned relative position estimates by a decentralized extended kalman filter. The accuracy of this relative navigation can be exploited to achieve intership sensor alignment among the participating units. In certain common geometric situations, a simple range-only triangulation can be used. The results obtained by this method have accuracy comparable to more sophisticated filtering techniques, at a considerable reduction in computational time. (Author)
