Abstract : An analytical study has been carried out to derive the acoustic spectral response of an attenuating adhesive bondline in terms of the physical properties of the adhesive. A similar effort was also carried out to relate the time-domain response of an attenuating bondline to the material properties of the adhesive. The purpose of this study was to derive relationships between the resonance quality, ultrasonic amplitude ratio, and resonance depth and the acoustic impedance, attenuation and sound velocity of the adhesive layer.
