Abstract : This study is designed (1) to test an empirical model which describes the linkages between the family and community variables which contribute to Air Force member job commitments and spouse support for member's Air Force careers and (2) to identify the preliminary impacts of the Family Support Centers on the variables in the model. The data were collected from probability samples of Air Force members and spouses and analyzed by means of path analyses. The results indicate that family support variables contribute to over one-third of the job commitments of members and one-fourth of the support provided by Air Force spouses.
