Abstract : This paper provides an overview of progress made on the NDE of homogeneously contaminated Ti-6211 alloys. It discusses the future work that is needed to address the practical NDE problems which may arise in these alloys and their welds. Problem areas include inhomogeneity in the distribution of oxygen; the presence of their contaminants such as Co2, N2, H, etc.; critical flaw size relative to the grain size; and variations in the microstructure due to causes other than oxygen contamination.
