Abstract : A review is made of laboratory techniques used in thermal hazards analysis. Isothermal differential scanning calorimetry, accelerating rate calorimetry, and the Henkin test are described. Experimental results are given for explosives HMX and TATB. The relationship of experimental data to thermal theory and the development of predictive models using laboratory data are discussed.
