Abstract : In the last few years, the Naval Weapons Support Center, has, with Command's support, embarked on an intensive effort to develop, administer, and enforce a complete environmental protection program for the facility. This is best evidenced by the establishment of the Environmental Protection Branch in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. It is currently staffed with 10 permanent personnel who share the responsibility for ascertaining Crane's compliance with all applicable environmental protection statutes and regulations. This goal is primarily encompasses air and water pollution control, solid waste management (including hazardous waste and PCB's), and pest control. Spill prevention and response efforts are also a key part of Crane's pollution control management.
