Abstract : The mechanical behavior of M30 propellant subjected to an acceleration greater than 10,000 g has been studied in an ultracentrifuge. Deformation of the propellant is measured as a function of maximum applied stress. Above an acceleration threshold, recovery of the propellant deformation is observed under zero stress. Failure is found to occur when the tensile strength is exceeded.
