Abstract : The new algorithm presented consists of the use of a ratio of factored polynomials in the reduced frequency to approximate the complex modulus and an artful procedure to evaluate the parameters. A corresponding Prony series is easily obtained to represent the relaxation modulus; the creep compliance and discrete relaxation and retardation spectra are likewise easily obtained. Series representations with 50 terms are routinely used; they are very convenient and well-behaved.
