Abstract : As part of the modernization program for United States Military facilities in Europe, Ammo Surveillance Workshops and Ammo Maintenance Buildings have been designed for construction in several locations within Germany. The facilities were designed by Kocks Consultants GmbH, Frankfurt, West Germany under contract with the U.S. Army Engineer Division, Europe, with Ernst Basler and Partners, Zurich, Switzerland providing the necessary dynamic calculations and design of protective walls. The work bays are separated by walls designed to prevent the simultaneous propagation of an accidental explosion and the administrative office areas are designed to afford personnel protection, even with the inclusion of windows in exterior walls. The facilities wil be used for a variety of test and maintenance functions for U.S. Army conventional ammunition of all types. (Author)
