Abstract : Numerical analysis methods for cracks in solid propellant grains should include the proper stress singularity and account for material incompressibility. An hybrid stress finite element method for the three-dimensional analysis of straight crack fronts has been developed. A modification to extend the method to curved crack fronts is proposed.
