Abstract : The Fleet Assessment Project was established to gather information on the kinds of soldering problems observed in Navy weapons systems. A Navy team of electronics manufacturing and soldering experts examined a wide variety of hardware returned from the Fleet at several Navy activities during September 1986. The team focused on original manufacture, and used guidelines similar to criteria contained in WS-6536E to assess risk to observed defects. Significant findings related to the original manufacture of the hardware reviewed are presented. (Author)
