Abstract : The requirements of safe installation and use even of long lengths, economic splicing and branching as well as reduction of cable types lead to only two designs: The 'Maxibundle' design for fiber counts from 4 to 24 and the 'Minibundle' design for fiber counts from 20 to 100. With an expected average fiber content of 15 the first one will cover more than 50 % of the needed cables. It leads to a 'one-operation' cable, provides the fibers with a sufficient length margin and does not need steel wires as tensile elements. (Author)
