Abstract : The advantages of curing polyethylene by the two methods, EB irradiation and chemical curing are discussed. The processing advantages using each method are pointed out, and the wire and cable products which results from each method are compared. Two different constructions are compared. The first is a motor lead wire construction using two commercially available materials. The second construction was a coaxial cable construction. The first construction was tested for dissipation factor at 1 KHz. Over the 480 day period at 60 C no discernible difference was noted in the constructions cured by the two methods.
