Abstract : This paper discusses the CounterMeasure Association Technique (CMAT) system development for the Air Force, which is used to automatically recommend countermeasure and maneuver response to a pilot while he is under missile attack. The overall system is discussed, as well as several key technical components. These components include use of fuzzy sets to specify data uncertainty, use of mimic nets to train the CMAT algorithm to make the same resource optimization tradeoffs as made in a database of library of training scenarios, and use of several data compression techniques to store the countermeasure effectiveness database.
