Abstract : The paper deals with modulation on the echo signal generated by rotating machinery of an air target. An extensive measurement campaign has been carried out by means of an Air Traffic Control radar and some preliminary results are presented. The problem of target spectra characterization and exploitation for detection enhancement and target identification, is considered in relation with the limitation imposed by the present radar features. Some considerations regarding the application of this technique for Non Cooperative Target Recognition, in the radar of future generation, are developed.
