Abstract : Bottom sediments, which cause pollution in the sea, river, and lake, have high fluidity and contain not only many organic matters with bad odor in general, but also toxic heavy metals in some circumstances. Now in Japan, since many regulations and restrictions have been published for disposal of such sediments in the area of concentrated population and high utilization of land, it is highly necessary to stabilize the dredged sediments speedily and to provide the disposal area. This paper presents the solidification technique for dredged bottom sediments which was developed and practiced popularly in Japan for the above purposes.
