Abstract : In the past, many clean water projects have been implemented because of complaints from residents about sediment odor. Thus, sediment odor is an important environmental effect of sediment pollution. On the other hand, research on its behavior has not advanced satisfactorily. The second Port and Harbor Construction Bureau of the Ministry of Transport is now studying the fundamental behaviors of sediment gases and pollution control regarding sediment odor. For this purpose, laboratory tests on sediment gas generation were performed in 1984 and in 1985 by the Sediments Management Association. This paper deals with those test results.
