Abstract : The analysis of complex familial traits requires the computation of likelihoods for complex genetic models on extended and/or complex pedigrees. This challenge has defeated conventional computational algorithms, but the pedigree Gibbs sampler provides an effective method of Monte Carlo evaluation of the required probabilities and likelihood ratio functions.
