Abstract : Using broad band dielectric spectroscopy on well oriented microdomains of mesogenic polymethacrylates the influence of strong lateral dipole groups on the dielectric parameters could be verified. The mesogenic groups investigated were phenylbenzoates with fluorine substituents at the phenyl ring. The orientation of the samples was maintained in a superconducting magnet with field strength of 7.2 T. The results are compared with those obtained for non-substituted compounds.
