Abstract : Characterisations of side chain liquid crystalline polymers point towards chemical structures and processing techniques which optimise their suitability for non-linear optical (NLO) applications. Techniques used are thermal analysis, X-ray and hotstage polarised light microscopy (orthoscopic and conoscopic).
