Abstract : Deterrence potential of Air Forces and by that the capability to fulfil their mission in times of war, rests to a high degree with a threat oriented training in peacetime. Low level flying is a major tactical means to help aircrews reduce the anticipated threat imposed to them by enemy air defence systems to an acceptable degree. The demand for this capability applies also to air defence tasks against attacking fighter bombers.
