Abstract : The paper is concerned with computational techniques for the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for compressible flows. In the first section the governing equation and their most important approximations are described. A review of computational techniques encloses grid arrangement, conservative discretization, numerical flux formulations, and different methods of solution inclusive multigrid methods. In a last section the influence of the numerical discretization on the accuracy of Navier-Stokes solutions is briefly discussed.
