Abstract : The popularity of microwave processing of materials continues to grow and as a result there is a need for numerical models that can help the design of cavity and applicators for specific applications. The Method of Moments and a Finite Element Method have been used to predict the heating behaviour of dielectric materials in multi-mode cavities at 2.45 GHz. A brief description of each method will be given and comparative strengths and weaknesses will be discussed.
