Abstract : The numerical solution of the unsteady Euler equations in conservative form for time-accurate problems using a relaxation method is considered. The unfactored implicit equations are solved by applying a nonlinear Newton method. Relaxation is performed with a point Gauss-Seidel algorithm ensuring a high degree of vectorization by employing the so-called checkerboard scheme.
