Abstract : Persistent spectral hole burning at room temperature has recently been demonstrated using a 2-D collection of fluorescent spherical microparticles having a random distribution of sizes.' In this system, known as a Microparticle Hole Burning Medium(MHBM), the differences in the frequencies of Morphology Dependent Resonances(MDR) with size enables one to generate a fluorescence excitation spectrum which is heterogeneous.
