Abstract : Many proteins involved in signal transduction are known to interact with Ca2+ in the cytosolic or membrane environment. While much is known about the structural requirement for Ca2- binding in the aqueous medium, relatively little is known about the conformational aspects of Ca2+ binding in nonpolar media such as the lipid bilayer.
