Abstract : Proteins often aggregate to form biologically inactive precipitates. To better understand this problem, we have developed a mean-field lattice statistical mechanics theory for the equilibrium between native, denatured, and aggregated states of proteins and other random copolymers of hydrophobic and hydrophilic monomers in aqueous solution.
