Abstract : Inhibitors of mammalian collagenases and gelatinase have considerable promise for therapy of arthritis, pseudomonas infections, and tumor metastasis. We synthesized effective peptide inhibitors with IC50 values near or below 1 nM against mammalian Type I collagenase and Type IV collagenase (gelatinase). We now focused on (a) demonstration of selectivity vs. other naturally occuring metalloproteases; and (b) improved biostability and oral activity.
