Abstract : The purpose of this work is to introduce into the field of optical pattern recognition the parallel approach of genetic algorithm (GA) replacing conventional serial procedures. We start with a short review of the procedure for iterative spatial filter generation in a 4-f correlator, proceed with the adaptation of GA and present experimental results.
