Abstract : This paper deals with effects of rotating motion of the large scale vortices on motion of scattering particles in a two-dimensional shear layer. The motion and dispersion of particles were analyzed numerically. The results show that there is some difference in mean velocity between the particle and the fluid and a concentration-weighted average is not always applicable for the flow field where the velocity component changes largely relative to its absolute value.
